UAE Trade License Renewal 2026: Process, Documents, Fees and Deadlines

UAE Trade License Renewal 2026: Process, Documents, Fees and Deadlines

Every business in the UAE must renew its trade license annually to remain legally operational. Missing the renewal deadline results in fines, legal complications, and potential blacklisting — but with the right process, renewal is straightforward. Here’s your complete guide for 2026.

When Should You Renew Your Trade License?

Dubai trade licenses expire on the anniversary of their issuance date. DED recommends starting the renewal process at least 30 days before expiry. Licenses can be renewed up to 3 months before their expiry without any timing penalty. After expiry, fines accumulate at AED 250 per month of delay (DED mainland).

Documents Required for Trade License Renewal

  • Current/expired trade license copy
  • Valid Ejari certificate for your business premises (renewed if expired)
  • No Objection Certificate (NOC) from your landlord if premises are sub-leased
  • Valid approvals from relevant authorities (if applicable — DHA, KHDA, Dubai Municipality, etc.)
  • Renewed external approvals (e.g., CIPA for financial activities)
  • Partners’ passport copies and visa copies

Trade License Renewal Fees (DED Mainland, 2026)

Fee Component Approx. Cost (AED)
DED license renewal fee 1,500–10,000+ (activity-based)
Ejari renewal (if due) 220
Knowledge & Innovation fee 10 + 10
Chamber of Commerce fee 200–1,200
Late renewal penalty (per month) AED 250/month

Renewal Process (Step-by-Step)

  1. Renew Ejari — Your tenancy registration must be current before DED will process your license renewal
  2. Renew external approvals — Any sector-specific approvals (Dubai Health Authority, Dubai Tourism, etc.) must be updated first
  3. Submit to DED — Via DED Trader app, business.gov.ae, or through a licensed typing centre/PRO
  4. Pay renewal fees — Payment can be made online or at DED service centres
  5. Receive renewed license — Digital license is issued within 1–3 working days; physical copy available for collection

Common Reasons for Renewal Rejection

  • Expired Ejari (most common reason)
  • Outstanding fines or violations with DED or other authorities
  • Expired or missing external approvals
  • Change in business activity not reflected in the license
  • Bounced cheque blacklisting with Dubai Police
